The WatchDog LT Charger with Antenna is a standard WatchDog Charger that has been modified with a BNC connector to allow the external antenna to be attached to it. The charger can be used for both WatchDog LT and WatchDog voice pagers.
The antenna is a dual band (VHF / UHF) omni-directional whip antenna with a circular magnetic base. Set screws are used to connect the upper antenna to the lower antenna for both VHF and UHF configurations.
The external antenna has the following characteristics:
Gain:
2.1dBi at 144MHz (VHF)
4.5dBi at 430MHz (UHF)
Dimensions:
Upper Antenna Length: 17.25” (43.8 cm)
Lower Antenna Length: 9” (22.9 cm)
Base Diameter: 3.5” (8.9 cm)
Base Height: 1.5” (3.8 cm)
Total Height: 27.75” (70.5 cm)
Antenna Cable Length to Charger: 39.4” (1.0 m)
Antenna Gain – A Simplified Explanation:
Received signal strength from an antenna with 3 dBi gain will be double that from an antenna which has 0dBi gain. A 3 dBi increase in received signal strength is roughly equal to doubling the transmitter power output. So, received signal strength and therefore range can be increased by raising the transmitter output power or by using a higher gain antenna.
