The harsh working environment of many public safety professionals can result in issues with gas monitor performance, but these issues can be largely eliminated with use of a protective carrying case. The clear case comes with a carabiner clip and wrist lanyard. A rubberized liner cushions the detector when accidental impacts occur. Its outside dimensions are approximately 5.5 x 4 x 2 inches and it weighs 15 oz.
In order to operationally sense gas, the monitor needs to be taken out of the carrying case. When not in use, it is recommended that the monitor be turned off. If this should become an extended period of time, the batteries should be removed from the monitor. The carrying case does allow space for these batteries inside the case and outside of the gas detector.
